When it comes to Brexit, a lot is still uncertain. Everybody is waiting for the results of the Trade Deal negotiations that are still ongoing between the European Union and the United Kingdom.

One thing is certain: The extension period ends on 31st December 2020 and there will be a hard border between the European Union and the United Kingdom. This means additional customs checks and inspections, and it means additional customs documents that need to be created.

When the transition period ends on December 31st an implementation period will start in the UK; Meaning that import clearance is only required for controlled goods from the 1st of January. From the 1st of April, the import requirement starts for Veterinary and Phytosanitary goods. Regular goods must be customs cleared from the 1st of July 2021. This transition period will give companies in the UK six months to get used to and prepare for the new processes and regulations.
